Overall, I think one of our groups biggest struggles during
this project was the fact that when this project started we found out that BSU
didn’t have anymore of their twice monthly meetings for the school year. This
was hard because we really didn’t know how we were going to film this group in
action. Another one of our groups struggles was finding something to focus on,
which was one of our main issues during the podcast. I think in the end though
we did a pretty good job of overcoming these issues.
I think the part of our documentary
that makes me the most proud was the fact that we were still able to get a good
bit of footage of the group. We were able to film the group dancing at the
event outside the student center and get footage of their banquet as well as talk
to a good amount of members and leaders even without being able to go to a
meeting.
Overall I was pretty pleased with
how the documentary turned out but if there was something that I could change
it would probably be to not have as many of the long narration slides and to
have more voice overs instead of such a long amount of time on interviews. I
would have liked to have more action footage from meetings or different events
instead of having it focused on the people talking for as long.
If I had 6 months to work on this
project I would probably have liked to get some more in depth interview
questions and to get some more action shots of the group. We were a little bit
limited with the events that we could get footage at so it would have been nice
to be able to get some more footage of meetings and some other different things
that they do on campus.
During this project I was
responsible for going to get a lot of the footage, including the video from
their different events, overview shots of campus, and shots of the student
center. I also did a lot to help organize how we wanted the video to be laid
out. I helped decide which parts we wanted to use and in what order would be
best to use them. I also went to all of and participated in all of the group
meetings outside of class.
In order to promote a healthy group
atmosphere I definitely tried to be positive and listen to everyone’s point of
view. We all also emailed back and forth and got everyone’s phone numbers so
that we could let each other know what was going on and to also assign times
that we were going to meet up outside of class. I think our group worked
together pretty well and we didn’t have any major issues. I think overall I
contributed a lot to the group and I don’t think there was really anything else
I could have done to help.
