Outline

Ethos
I will develop credibility by dressing nicely and by telling true stories about my life. I’m not very good at speaking in front of people so I will need to practice to make sure it comes across clearly.
Pathos
Although I am talking about a trait that can sometimes be viewed negatively, I want to keep my speech as positive as possible and not be too negative or emotional.
Logos
1. Introduction
a. Thesis- The thread that ties the different aspects of my life of family, career, and entertainment together is the fact that I am very indecisive.
b. Hook- I’m the oldest in my family but my personality doesn’t always reflect that. I don’t normally have a strong personality and will sometimes let others do the decision making.
2. Body
a. Family- When I go shopping with my family it always takes me forever to decide what to get and now many of my family members don’t like to go with me because of it.
b. Entertainment- There have been multiple times where all of my friends were going out to dinner or on a weekend trip and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go or not so I ended up not going and missed out on a fun time because of it.
c. Career- There have also been times when being indecisive has actually benefitted me. On a test instead of rushing through it, I wasn’t sure so I took my time and actually ended up getting a better score because of it.
3. Conclusion
Overall the thing that ties the different aspects of my life with family, entertainment, and career together is my indecisiveness and as you can see it has had both a positive and negative impact.

President Bush's post 9/11 speech

When I think about great speeches the first thing that came to my mind were those by past presidents. Out of many, one of the most influential and memorable speeches that I can think of in my life time would have to be president George W. Bush's speech to the American people on the night of 9/11/01. Even in the midst of such a horrific day I think he did a good job of providing strength and hope in such a difficult time. This is one of the very first speeches that he would make in the days after from that night.

Ethos- Based on his position credibility is pretty much given in this situation, making him also very reliable, not only for many Americans, but also leaders across the globe.
Pathos- Without a doubt emotion is the biggest thing that can be seen here. One way that he shows this is by talking about the many people that came out to donate blood or just to help in any way they could. Also, he talks about how America will remain strong through this time and that this will not break the American spirit.
Logos- I think this can be seen when he speaks about the best way to move forward and when he mentions that the different government programs and branches would soon be open for business as usual. I think this was his best way of providing somewhat of a sense of normalcy in a time filled with so much chaos.

This clip perfectly captures how the American spirit can prevail even throughout this horrible time. This was a speech President Bush gave to emergency rescue workers on Sept. 14, 2001.

"The Rise of the NBA Nerd"

.

I think it is very interesting the way NBA players have strayed from their stereotypical way of dressing. In one aspect I like this change because it sends a message that NBA players don’t necessarily have to dress and act in the way that was previously expected. I like how it says that these guys can be both talented and smart. They don’t have to fit the stereotypical athlete form but can also show their own style as well. But at the same time it also makes me question what image and message they are actually trying to portray. Do they actually have a motive behind it or is it their own individual expression of style? Maybe they are trying to be an academic inspiration to kids both on and off the court, which would be great, but in this article their reasons for dressing the way they are were unclear. I’m not so sure what their motivation behind dressing the way they are was. To me it seems a little bit random and different when you’re watching a game and expect to see players dressed in the normal sweat outfits but find players in button ups and glasses in the traditional nerd style for their interviews.  I don’t think they are intentially making fun of the nerd way of dressing but I think it could somewhat come across that way. Never the less whatever their reasoning may be, weather sending a message or just expressing their own style, they have definitely made a big impact on the world of professional basketball.
